We went for birthday celebration at Hoi Tong Steamboat Restaurant last saturday.Hmm...the last time we held the birthday celebration there was 3 years ago, and it was my birthday! There's a reason we don't frequent the place within the 3 years. hahaha..of course the cause is neither the restaurant nor the food.Let my friends recall...
Restaurant Hoi Tong Steamboat has a generous serving of steamboat items including variety of meatballs, vegetables(leafty, mushroom...), seafoods(prawn, fish, crab, squid, scallop...) and marinated meats as well. The main attraction of this restaurant is that they provide hot plates for customers to fry the food themselves. Banana leaves and butters are provided abundantly for this purpose. We were indeed having a lot of fun frying and eating the marinated chicken, squid, fish, scallop, prawn with eggs (my friend's favourite) and mutton(my bf's favourite). As for the soup, there are 2 types of soup available, tomyam and herbal. I prefer the herbal soup because the tomyam soup is too spicy for me. :p
Restaurant Hoi Tong Steamboat also serves ice-cream, fruits and jelly as its desserts. 4 types of ice-cream are provided here, which includes chocolate, vanilla, yam and corn. One interesting sight in this restaurant is that there is always a long queue for the ice-cream.
We spent almost 3 hours frying+boiling, eating, chit-chatting and savouring the yummy ice-cream until our stomach nearly explode.
